Problems or Opportunities?

As best I can tell heres how it breaks down.

Some people see problems as opportunities. Understanding that getting through each opportunity puts them closer to the next one. Kind of going through life with a stair step mentality. Excited to get to the next round of new opportunities because they are seen as steps along a pathway. They feel like the bigger the opportunity (problem) the better because that means a bigger step taken. With this outlook they welcome big challenges. They push ahead boldly, as though it were a sporting event in which the opportunities were the opponent.

The opportunity being the thing that must be overcome or conquered in order to move up to higher levels of competition. Thereby bringing higher levels of enjoyment. Enjoying the whole process the way one might enjoy a weekend hobby or the companionship of a loved one. These are the kinds of people who charge out of bed in the mornings because they see the upcoming day as another opportunity to be great.

Conversely there are those who dont ever want there to be any problems (opportunities). Believing that problems are to be avoided at all costs. In the minds of these people problems are all bad. They see the very occurrence of opportunity as a problem. They get caught up believing that its the end of something rather than focusing on the new beginning that lies before them once the challenge is met. These are the people who never confront either themselves or others. They just accept. “Whatever works for you.” “If thats what you want.”

These people dont realize it but they are victims. Accepting what comes instead of actively going to where they want to be. Sometimes they see themselves as peacekeepers. Which is not a bad thing to be but peacemaking would be an even higher aspiration.

Peacemakers lean into conflict. Knowing the only true way to keep peace is by resolving issues through confronting them rather than not. Martin Luther King Jr. was a peacemaker. A peacemaker would rather go through instead of dancing around things. Jesus Christ was a peacemaker. They understand going through is conquering while dancing around is avoiding. Mohandas Gandhi was a peacemaker. Avoiding is putting things off until they are so big and painful that they become, well, unavoidable. I challenge you, as I have challenged myself to stop avoiding things and deal with them. If things in your life arent the way you need them to be in order to feel what you need to feel check yourself. Are you resolving or avoiding?

And so the question, Which are you, a peacekeeper or a peacemaker? Do you see opportunities or do you only see problems? Are you busy keeping the peace, or are you actively confronting and resolving those issues in your life that are calling for resolution? How do you view the challenges you are currently facing, annoyances or welcomed opportunities?

Do you look forward to and welcome opportunities that challenge and grow you in the process? Have you accepted the fact that sometimes life is not comfortable but that “real life” happens in the midst of this discomfort? Are you content to accept what life dishes out or are you scratching and clawing in the trenches to pull from life and yourself the things you want and deserve?

Which is it going to be for you, Victim or Victor? The choice is all yours.

I offer these as my final thoughts on the subject:

Those of us who are crazy enough to think we can change the world, our world, are the ones who will surely do it. If you want to make your world a better place in which to live, start by seizing the opportunities that are right now before you.

Make that telephone call
Write that letter
Confront that personThen tell them you love them.
Accept that setback and move on to the next battle
Share the gift of you with somebody, anybody.
Forgive
Forget
Do something Do Anything!
Live!!

Thanks for sharing your time with me. I welcome your thoughts, comments.

Live some. Love some. Learn some. Everyday.

The All Important Colours

When it comes to selecting the right colour for the wedding outfit, the bride is not only bound by her own sense of what suits her, but the perceptions of others.

Many colours are avoided not necessarily because they are unattractive, but because they are loaded with certain meanings. For example, gray was never a particular favourite because of its association with the station it represented. In Victorian novels, the governess or other lowly worker at the big house, most likely dressed in gray.

Pink, while in itself a great favourite, for the wedding seemed somewhat frivolous and girlish. You could get away with a bit of pink trimming, but a pink bride was too much of a lollipop. Red, of course, was always a taboo colour, having always been associated with the red-light districts.

Now that the Celtic weddings are with us, we see that some colours are associated with nature itself, and can understand why they tended to be either chosen or avoided. Brown, for example, is evocative of the soil, and while a brown wedding dress might be all right for a girl on the land, for an upwardly mobile bride, brown would definitely be out.

Another colour, quite attractive in itself which has been avoided in the past, is green. There is a superstition that it’s the colour of the fairies, and you don’t want to annoy the fairies by wearing it on your weddin day. Why fairies should object to having their colour used for weddings, is difficult to understand, but, of course, they never were a reasonable lot. However, now and then, the contemporary bride who sees the green as a colour of growth, is thumbing her nose at the fairies and saying hello to the green.

One of the happier colours that were often used by brides in the past was blue. Apart from the fact that to the onlookers the colour blue denoted that the bride had been a good girl and was all a bride should be, there was an added bonus to the colour. It was suggested that a bride who wore blue, would have a husband who would be faithful to her for the rest of both their lives. What more could a bride ask for?

Here Comes the Wind

The weather forecast for the day, has been grim, to say the least. Not only is the temperature at Artic levels, and the snow is coming down like crazy, but now we are going to be having the windiest day of the year, maybe even in the last decade. Hurricane force winds in excess of 100 miles per hour are expected. The news crews are warning everybody to stock up on all the essentials like water, food, and batteries. I on the other hand are not heeding their warning. I think that the news crews are a bunch of frauds, who couldn’t tell the weather, it that were standing in the middle of it. Fast forward a few hours later. The news crews come back on the television saying that the winds are not going to be that bad, in fact, there will most likely be hardly any wind at all. They said that it would only snow about an inch or two at the most. It ended up, at the end of the day snowing more than eight inches. Then the next mooring, the temperature got up to nearly forty degrees and most of the snow quickly melted. All that was left was the slushy mess. And people all over the area are stuck with tons of stuck in their fridge that they did not need to go and get. However, the next morning I was able to go out and give the dog some exercise. I busted out the skis and let him tow me around the neighborhood, up the hill, and then had to run full speed to keep up with me on the way back down.

Article Marketing 202 — Creating a Viral Lead-Generating Machine

There is a simple system for creating a viral lead-generating machine. You can follow this system whether you have been marketing for years or for one day.

The simple system that will create a viral lead-generating machine has only three steps:

Step 1: Write and publish articles

Step 2: Distribute articles

Step 3: Articles continue to be distributed virally

This really is the best way for you to promote your business. I promote my business exclusively through article writing and publishing.

The secret of this system is to write a useful, high-content article and send it to your ezine or marketing list and publish it on your website.

You increase readership and traffic by sending your articles to article distribution lists and ezine directories. These directories exist for ezine owners and website owners to pick up free reprintable content to use in their ezine or on their website.

This helps you, because if your article is picked up and distributed by 10 ezine owners who each have 1000 people in their list, your article will be sent to 10 000 people!

When you submit to an articles directory, your article sits there to be picked up and reprinted. You can submit an article tomorrow and it will still be there promoting your business five years from now. Your article can have a shelf life as long as you want, and every time someone reprints your article or finds it in a search, you get free exposure!

Bonus tip: If you include in your resource box that your article can be reprinted anywhere by anyone, anyone who reads your article can reprint it on their website or in their ezine. But be sure to state that permission to reprint requires your resource box to be left intact. This will ensure that your business continues to be promoted.

To continue the above example, if another 1000 people find your article and reprint it, your business will be marketed to 11 000 peoplein a very short period of time!

Imagine this process occurring time and time again, with more than one article! Remember that having your articles on more and more websites will increase the possibility that someone will find your articles and do business with you.

So what’s holding you back? Start with one articlewrite it, distribute it, and start all over again. Over time you will create a viral lead-generating machine.

Natural Remedies And Treatments For Allergies

When allergies strike, most allergy sufferers head to the drugstore where they purchase an antihistamine. They take it, and soon their symptoms begin to subside. They’re all set until the next outburst.

Over-the-counter antihistamines are effective but unfortunately, taking them often causes unpleasant side effects such as drowsiness and a feeling of lethargy. If you’re tired of feeling tired when allergies strike, maybe it’s time you reach for natural allergy remedies instead.

Natural allergy remedies come in all forms and are made from many different types of ingredients including herbs, plants, ground up honey bees, and other vitamins and nutrients. Most natural allergy remedies have been designed to either stop histamine outbursts from occurring in the first place, or they act to combat the individual symptoms that occur with the release of histamines. They accomplish these tasks naturally, which is why unpleasant side effects are non-existent.

Besides treating allergy symptoms with all-natural ingredients, the term “natural allergy remedies” has come to mean something more. In addition to being a natural and effective way to treat allergy symptoms after they develop, the term can be used to describe taking control of your surroundings so that you limit exposure to the allergens that cause you trouble. For example, if pet dander is a problem, don’t keep pets. Or if you must, you’ve got to be vigilant about keeping pet dander under control. Likewise with dust mites. You need to protect your furnishings with casings that keep this type of problem under wraps.

Watching what you eat is important if you’ve got food allergies, so taking steps to control your diet can also be considered a natural allergy remedy. In addition to closely monitoring what you eat, there also are foods you can consume that are known to contain naturally-occurring histamine combatants. For example, Quercitin, a flavinoid found in onions and apples, is capable of blocking the release of histamines which cause the familiar allergy symptoms like runny nose, congestion, and itchy, watery eyes. Besides being effective against allergies, there are countless other health benefits of eating these and other types of fruits and vegetables, like lowering your risk of developing heart disease and keeping your blood sugar levels stable.

If you’re like a lot of people and find that monitoring what you eat is too much work, then consider taking a daily multi-vitamin. Many of the vitamins and minerals benefit the immune system which in turn helps keeps the symptoms of allergies under control.

With so many natural allergy remedies being offered, understanding the ingredients as well as the actual benefits of each can be mind-boggling. Even though these types of products are available without a prescription, if you’re confused, it might be advisable to speak with an allergist or someone who specializes in natural remedies. These specialists can help explain how each of the individual ingredients work and why they’re thought to be effective. This type of information may help you decide whether natural allergy remedies are right for you.

THE POWER OF STORYTELLING

Each and every day as we are building our businesses, we all know the key to a successful presentation is a product being sold to the end-line consumer and/or sponsoring a new person. In an upcoming issue, I am going to write about the difference between making a sale and having customer loyalty in the sales process. In the sales process, you are fighting many different types of animals. For most of us who are in direct sales, you have 45 minutes to present a product/business concept and make a person believe in you, your product, and more importantly have them make a decision that they want what you are offering.

When you are presenting the business, it is very easy for you to get very factual and completely lose the interest of your prospect. When you tell a story about the success of someone who is using the product or have a person give a live testimonial about how much they love being a distributor, you will keep the interest of new people who are listening for the first time.

For most of us, the first time in our lives that we were ever presented with the concept of a live audience was back in kindergarten when we played “show and tell”. Everyone was always interested in what you were saying because you were simply telling a story. We have all heard of the famous K.I.S.S. rule: Keep It Simple Stupid. When presenting your business or product, the key play is to tell a story and keep it simple. Everyone can relate to the grandmother, who can talk about their grandchild as the most beautiful, precious child in the world. She will make you feel as if her grandchild would be such a gift to own as your own. You need to take that same simplicity and utilize it during your presentation and create the same result - ownership of your product.

As you tell stories, people will remember those stories versus all the facts in the world. “FACTS TELL, BUT STORIES SELL.” They should want to get involved in your business or purchase your product because all of the success stories that you told. People love to be part of a winning team. Storytelling keeps people tied into you and your presentation. I always say when in doubt during a presentation, tell a story in order to bring people’s attention back to you. When I present, I ALWAYS tell many stories because when I was first introduced to direct sales, what perked my ears was a story of a young lady who had a lifestyle I wanted. The personal story of her lifestyle is what made me decide to get involved in the business. In that business, I went on to build an enormous organization and all I did was tell my story and tell the company’s story over and over!

Combining the key strategy of storytelling along with the correct mindset, you can achieve your wildest dreams!

Software Evolution

As Internet connections become more permanent with broadband access, software will be able to evolve into a more efficient and personalized medium. Currently, most software run from our hard drives and require installations that alter our system configurations, many times slowing down our computers. Because software occupies space and processing power, there is a limited amount of software that can run in our PCs. On the business side, current software systems require many companies to produce a system of distribution (Compac Discs), customer support, and is usually not compatible with all customers, thus limiting its customer base further.

A software evolution is ocurring and it is going to benefit both customers and businesses immensly. Software will no longer come as a packet that needs to be installed on a PC, but rather it will be completely Web based. Web based software will become the default way of reaching customers. Customers will have advantages such as, using unlimited amount of software, using applications regardless of where the person is or which computer he/she is using, software can be personalized and upgraded to meet specific needs to each individual. Businesses will be able to, reduce costs, reach a larger customer pool, taylor its software to diverse markets, repair bugs more rapidly and easily, understand its customer and the way they use their software, etc.

In order for this software revolution to occur in whole, there needs to be a central point. Like Miscrosoft’s DOS in the 80’s, which became the standard choice of operating system to centralize and organize our computer operations, there needs to be an online operating system. As of now, Microsoft has built an empire because of its vision and their dominance in the OS market. However, now there is a window of opportunity to take a large chunk of that empire and possibly eliminate Microsoft’s monopoly of the Operating System. While there are many companies and organizations (Apple, Linux, Lindows) out there trying to take a bite out of Microsoft by competing on the same turf, PC users are accostumed to Windows and will most likely not switch. The opportunity to eliminate this monopoly is to create an Online Operating System. PC users will inevitably move completely online.

An Online Operating System will be the central point of every user in the future. There are online companies who have an inside advantage to this, such as Yahoo!, Google, and AOL, but it can be anyone’s medal, even to a fairly unknown competitor, as was Microsoft when they introduced DOS to the world. In this new concept of Operating System, there can be a larger space of diversity and can be shared by more companies, unlike the current status.

Abortion and the Conscience of the Nation by Ronald Reagan

In 1983, President Reagan wrote an essay for the “Human Life Review” entitled, “Abortion and the Conscience of the Nation.” This brief writing of his pro-life philosophy was published in book form a year later. It was expanded to approximately to 95 pages with lengthy afterwords by Surgeon General C. Everett Koop and British essayist Malcolm Muggeridge. Reagan’s brief composition is probably one of the better well-argued pro-life essays ever written. It is also significant as it was the first ever by a sitting President. It was President Reagan’s attempt to awaken a nation to the implications of abortion. In this short book, President Reagan gives an account on how important the issue of abortion is to the “conscience of a nation.”

President Reagan’s essay is only 26 pages of the book, but it is well structured. He believed that diminishing the life of the unborn diminishes the value of all human life. He tackled the pro-abortion “quality of life” argument and compared it to the Dred Scott slavery issue. Reagan likened the pro-abortion argument to slavery and drew parallels between the Roe vs. Wade decision and the Dred Scot decision that divided America over a century earlier. According to Reagan, the quality of life argument is an argument for quality control of the population.

Reagan surmises that legalized abortion is a very slippery slope. He says that unborn babies are being killed because they are simply not wanted or come at an inconvenient time. He also states that many are killed because they will be unable to lead a “normal” life as the result of birth defects. Such babies are considered to be of less value and thus denied human rights. He claims this denial of human rights is accomplished by activist judges who frame the interpretation of the US Constitution through the lens of their own pro-abortion beliefs.

Reagan believes that the arbitrary evaluation of unborn lives must stop. He states that this philosophy will lead to further the crimes of infanticide and illustrates this by citing the Indiana case of “Baby Doe.” Baby Doe was allowed to starve to death because the child had Down’s syndrome. The essence of Reagan’s argument is that no nation can survive and prosper when a group of individuals look at a child and declare whether that child has value as a human being. Reagan goes on to say,

“Abraham Lincoln recognized that we could not survive as a free land when some men could decide that others were not fit to be free and should therefore be slaves. Likewise, we cannot survive as a free nation when some men decide that others are not fit to live and should be abandoned to abortion or infanticide. My Administration is dedicated to the preservation of America as a free land, and there is no cause more important for preserving that freedom than affirming the transcendent right to life of all human beings, the right without which no other rights have any meaning.”

The pro-life movement will not be disappointed with Reagan’s essay, and will conclude that it contains very powerful and logical anti-abortion arguments.

“Boost Sales With An Email Bonus!”

If you are doing business online then you must have an email contact list.

It is absolutely essential that you be able to email your list of subscribers, customers, hot prospects or general permission based list of non-customers with information about whatever product or service that it is that you are involved with.

Email, after all, is the foundation for communication on the Internet.

Whether you have your own established list of email addresses to contact or if you use one of the 1000’s of online safe email lists to get your message out, you can boost your sales response by using a simple yet valuable email tool; an email announcement.

An email announcement is essentially an ‘Alert’ or bonus email.

You can provide your established customers an email alert about timely information on product releases or new services being offered, even before your non-customers find out about it from you or someone else.

This gives your established customers preference.

But you can use the same technique with total strangers, like those from a safe list that you recently joined, by wording your email to show that it is a “Special Announcement”.

All of us allow our attention to be captured when we see an email alert of this nature.

Whether or not our attention is retained by that email has less to do with the actual wording of the alert than with the subject matter and whether it holds any interest for us personally.

But the important thing to remember, is that the ‘Alert’ itself can capture the attention of your potential audience just long enough for them to decide if it is of interest for them.

Capturing the attention of your target market will always BOOST YOUR SALES!
